Product and GTM Lead for StackUp
Background
Company
Note: This project builds upon the efforts from the StackUp - Learn-and-Earn Platform for Developers - 0-1 Development, Launch & Commercialisation project.
In 2023, the existing learn-and-earn product built on no-code was reaching its technical limits - requiring a proper rebuild. Furthermore, the product offering needed to evolve and capture/solve the emerging opportunities/pain points presented by clients, that went beyond learn-and-earn.
The Target Market
Our Web3 Clients were loving our learn-and-earn product - but they wanted more.
They wanted to...
- Engage the developers with more than just learning courses
- own the space and community that we effectively created for them
- Engage developers with their own programs and toolings
Our End Users
After completing our learn-and-earn courses - the learners were looking for their next learning and upskilling opportunity, or even their next job opportunity. They wanted/needed to capitalise on their new learnings and convert them into financial ROI.
The Solution
Our solution was StackUp 2.0, a.k.a StackUp Campus - a federated, multi-app, developer community platform.
Instead of just rebuilding the learn-and-earn experience, we decided to extend the platform such that we can support:
- multiple communities - each with their own space/environment
- each community running their own unique suite of apps/sites for engaging their developers
(Our Clients) Technology companies can create their own communities, enjoy our first-party experiences, and integrate their own tooling and products.
(Our End-users) Developers get to explore a rich ecosystem of different technology developer communities.

Project Involvement and Outcomes
In-a-nutshell
Functioning as a product manager (leading the product management and go-to-market efforts), this project in 2023 revolved around achieving the following within 10 months:
- Revamp the existing learn-and-earn product, whilst working towards our longer-term platform direction/vision.
- Complete the revamp and launch successfully, including a complete migration rom the old platform
- Growing the product development and engineering team to meet our capacity needs
Key Outcomes/Achievements
Project Success
Met all our initially set targets for the year when it comes to the development goals and business outcomes.
- Met the timelines
- Product quality improved significantly - time saved for team, experience improved for users (verified through data and surveys)
Succesful Migration
Our go-to-market plans allowed us to successfully:
- Retire the existing learn-and-earn platform
- Launch the new community platform
- Migrate our users
- Avoid any downtime or disruptions to client projects.
Team Building
Within the year, we grew the product and design team from 1 PM + 1 designer to 2 PM + 5 designers - focusing heavily on setting effective working dynamics so that individuals are able to, move fast independently, be sufficiently empowered to solve difficult problems themselves, and work together well.
Highlights
Some key challenges that we tackled through the course of the project:
Managing Product Scope
- The original learn-and-earn platform was rich in features, and our existing internal users had many outstanding business requests on how we could improve the platform
- However, I had to ensure that we were critical about which functionalities/capabilities we prioritised for the initial launch and migration, so that we could achieve the timelines assigned to us.
- We also had the opportunity to challenge ourselves in reimagining how we achieved certain user outcomes, instead of just replicating the existing product experience.
Product Migration
- The original platform was highly active, with constant client projects and campaigns occurring.
- Our launch of the v2.0 platform had to be seamless so that any client campaigns run on the new version would still run smoothly and successfully.
- We also had to provide a smooth and intuitive migration for existing users coming over from the existing platform.
